Girl buys Ipod twice, package full of rocks

An article over at Ars Technica, talks about a customer service problem at Target, in which the customer receives a box of rocks instead of the Ipod purchased. Apparently, parents of a teenage girl purchased an Ipod at Target for her birthday. When opening it up, she discovered there was no Ipod inside and instead the box was full of rocks. The family returned the box to Target where they refused to give the family a refund and insisted on store credit because of their policy. The Target store didn’t have any more Ipods but found one at another store 20 miles away. After exchanging the box of rocks for a new Ipod, the new box was opened at Target and also was full of rocks.
When a problem occurs such as this, the management of the store needs to have the power and common sense to return someones money to save the customer and avoid destructive word of mouth hell fire that occurs afterwards. A search on Technorati came up with 521 blog posts at the moment about Target, Ipod, and rocks.
